Cynthia Carr

Cyndy Carr is currently the Senior Vice President, Sales, with responsibility for the consolidated sales activities for The Dallas Morning News and its portfolio of print and digital products and services. As the head of Sales, Cyndy is responsible for ensuring that the go-to-market sales strategy and strategic positioning of the product and services portfolio are aligned to meet the needs of local and national clients.

Prior to this role, Cyndy held several positions with The News. In June 2007, Cyndy assumed the role of Senior Vice President, Niche Products, with responsibility for Al DíaThe Dallas Morning News’ Spanish-language daily; Quick, a free weekly entertainment and lifestyle newspaper that targets 18-34 year olds; magazines, including FD Luxe; and Design Mail, Inc., a direct marketing company owned by The News. In August of 2008, Cyndy led the launch of Briefing, a four-day-a-week, home-delivered, free newspaper targeted to busy families who don’t have time to read the traditional newspaper.

From August 2006 through May 2007, Cyndy was Vice President, Strategy. In this role, she was responsible for developing and overseeing strategies to help position the organization to adapt to evolving changes in the media environment. During this time she also served as Publisher of neighborsgo, leading a 10-month turnaround effort to get the product to profitability and launching neighborsgo.com.

Cyndy held the position of Vice President, Advertising Marketing from September 2004 to May 2006. She was responsible for supporting advertising sales activities for The Dallas Morning News advertising teams, including strategy and business development, advertiser communications, sales promotions, the development and publishing of custom publishing products, and all art design and layout.

Carr joined The News as Director, Business Development in June 2004. While in this role, Cyndy led the development and launch of the magazine FD Luxe.

From 2000 to 2004, Carr held the positions of Associate and Engagement Manager in the Dallas and Houston offices of McKinsey & Company. In her tenure at McKinsey, Cyndy’s experience was in operations, organizational redesign and business development.

Carr is a graduate of Texas Christian University and received her Masters and Doctorate degrees from Rice University. 

She and her husband, Christian, have three daughters and live in Southlake, Texas.
