Dan Phelan

Dan is the General Manager of the Preprints and Grocery category. In this role, Dan is responsible for the success of the various Preprint programs within The Dallas Morning News, including the TMC program. In addition, he is also responsible for other print initiatives and targeted products, including front page notes and polybags.

Dan joined The Dallas Morning News in May 2003 as the Director of Preprints and TMC. During his tenure, he has led the team to achieve a dominant position in the market within the Grocery category and with the Preprint and TMC products. His team has exceeded its revenue goal annually since 2005 and is well positioned to continue that trend in 2010.

Prior to joining The News, Dan was with Source 0ne, an integrated logistics company for just under one year as the Vice President of Sales in the Southwest Region. He was responsible for managing sales and operations.

From 1984 through 2002, Dan was with Advo Inc., a direct mail marketing company. With Advo, he held several positions including Client Services Manager, Key Account Executive and Regional Sales Manager. As a Sales Manager, Dan delivered consistently strong results and was able to achieve five consecutive years of revenue goal attainment, the only manager in the company to do so.

Dan spent three years in the U.S. Navy, leaving as a P.O. 3rd Class, and he also spent two years in Spain managing yachts.

Dan and his wife Anne-Marie have four children, one normal dog and one abnormal Boston terrier.
